Results Management

Know where you are, where you're going, and how fast.

Results management is the ability to actually steer your organization quickly to the results that matter by measuring key 'leading indicators' along the way. It's not just for the management team, but every employee gets a clear picture of what matters most and how what they do on a daily basis affects the entire organization.

Measure Forward Not Backward

It's not a good idea to drive a car by looking into the rear-view mirror, but that's exactly what many businesses do. They evaluate revenue, market-share, financial reports. These are all important, but these 'lagging indicators' are much more of an indication of where you have been than where you are going. When you determine what 'leading indicators' drive the larger results and more importantly, what behaviors are responsible, you can measure the road ahead of you.

Align the Dots in Your Organization

The larger the company, the more likely that there are teams not only working against each other, but perhaps even working against the whole organization. It's like having engines on an airplane pulling in different directions. And the more power you throw at it, the worse it gets. When you truly align everyone in your organization to the same direction, you will move faster than ever before, become more agile, and watch your strategy take shape.

Give Each Employee Clear Priorities

If you ask someone on the front line to describe how their job affects the organization as a whole, you may not get a very good answer. In fact, time and time again, employees fall prey to a fatal disconnect between their work and it's importance. They focus on tasks and their own day to day without really understanding how they fit in to the big picture. When you give everyone a clear picture of the results they are responsible for, how they will measure them, and how they impact the entire company, things take a turn for the better.
